Stunning Photos Of Iconic Stars On Their Honeymoons
Over the years, Hollywood has seen untold numbers of love stories between iconic stars. We’ve all seen their glamorous weddings, but what about the honeymoons? Where did the silver screen’s most legendary couples vacation after their big days? With these rarely seen photographs, let’s a closer look at the honeymoons of Hollywood royalty. Strap yourselves in for a heavy dose of nostalgia, folks: we’re heading back to a bygone era.
Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer's second honeymoon
Following their first meeting in 1953 it didn’t take long for Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer to fall head-over-heels for each other. The loved-up pair tied the knot some 12 months later at a quiet function in Switzerland, where they also enjoyed their honeymoon.
But then, in the summer of 1957, Ferrer and Hepburn felt the urge to have another one, which led to this snap on the SS Queen Mary. Their relationship didn’t last forever, though: the stars split up in November 1968.
Liza Minnelli and Peter Allen chilling in the Sunshine State
In what proved to be the first of four marriages, Liza Minnelli exchanged vows with music star Peter Allen in 1967. And this shot here captures their honeymoon in the Florida sunshine. They look so happy! There was just one issue, though.
As Minnelli in 1996 told magazine The Advocate, “[I] married Peter and he didn’t tell me he was gay. Everyone knew but me. And I found out...well, let me put it this way. I’ll never surprise anybody coming home as long as I live. I call first!” They got divorced in 1974.
A Disney honeymoon
Walt Disney and his beloved wife Lillian were first introduced when she scored a position at the Disney Brothers Studio. From there, the duo went on to get hitched in July 1925 before spending their honeymoon in both Washington State and Seattle.
But that’s not where this cute picture was taken. You see, some ten years after the wedding, Walt and Lillian traveled to London, where they enjoyed a much-delayed second honeymoon. The couple weren’t alone: Mickey Mouse joined them!
Barbados beaches for George Harrison and Pattie Boyd
A Barbados honeymoon? That sounds like a dream! Beatles legend George Harrison and his spouse Patti Boyd were certainly making the most of it in this candid snap. The pair said their “I dos” in 1966. Yet the musician’s substance-abuse problems, and unfaithfulness, proved to be a huge issue.
They split in 1977. Reflecting on that, Boyd told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, “I felt that I had to leave George, because things were getting really out of hand. We’d gone in different directions, basically. But we still loved each other.”
