Airline Ticket Agent Suspects Something Is Off When Two Minors Show Up With Suspicious Tickets

What teenage girl doesn't have dreams of jetting off to New York City for an all-expenses paid weekend to do a few modeling gigs? But when things seem too good to be true, it may be wise to ask, "What's the catch?" That hesitation would've behooved two teenage girls from Sacramento. In the city that never sleeps, the nightlife can quickly become more sinister than glamorous for those who really don't have any idea what they're walking into...

An Experienced Employee

American Airlines' employee Denise Miracle has been a ticketing agent with the popular air service for nearly three decades. Not only was Denise extremely confident with her customer service responsibilities, but she also had become familiar with American Airlines' patronage over the years.

Immediately Concerned

So when two young girls approached her counter in the summer of 2017, Denise immediately felt something was off. Unaccompanied minors always gave her some pause, but when Denise questioned the girls about their itineraries, her suspicion grew to concern.

Unaccompanied Minors

To begin with, the young ladies— 15 and 17 years old— were attempting to fly from Sacramento to New York City. Two girls of that age flying such a great distance was already unusual, but then things became even more alarming.

Going Cross-Country

Denise noticed the girls didn't have much in the way of luggage. In fact, they were both only carrying one small backpack. That's not a lot of baggage for an entire cross-country trip.
